Rohit Sharma to undergo fitness test at NCA on Sunday

Debasis Sen, Bangalore: Star Indian batsman Rohit Sharma will be undergoing a fitness test tomorrow at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ahead of the tour of Ireland and England. Rohit, who missed the fitness test carried on his teammates here on Friday will be arriving in the Garden City on Sunday to give his fitness test. The Mumbai batsman was in Russia recently with his wife Ritika Sajdeh to watch the World Cup.

He was flown to Moscow by Swiss luxury watchmaker, Hublot, who are also the official timekeepers of FIFA. The Mumbai Indians captain was seen chilling with Jose Mourinho, the manager of Manchester United, Gennady Golovkin, the world-famous boxing champion and Christian Karembeu, the retired French International footballer among others.

The result of the tests will determine whether he is fully fit to travel to Ireland.

The yo-yo test has become a mandatory aspect for all the players to clear to retain their place in the Indian cricket team. Ambati Rayudu was the latest casualty following his failure in the Yo Yo tests.

Just a couple of days before the start of the Test against Afghanistan, BCCI dropped Mohammed Shami from the 15-member squad as he failed the yo-yo test. He was replaced by Navdeep Saini. Sanju Samson was also dropped from the India A team as he flunked the test.
