Internet Desk: P V Sindhu kept the Medal hope raised as she advanced to the semi-final of women’s badminton. This win will definitely upheld the confidence level of Sindhu as this time she defeated the defending Silver Medalist of London Olympic.

Sindhu won a tough battle after most of the fans lost hope of her winning. Winning over the world no.2 Wang Yihan was a matter of betting. And the score line of the match would also prove how tough it was for Sindhu to win the match of 55mins.

The first set was dominated by Wang in the first half as she went into the break leading 11-8, but Sindhu came back stronger and made it 14-14 before running away to a lead of 20-17.

Sindhu tried to make Wang cover longest distances by pushing her to the back corner and then drawing her forward to the net, earning her a few points. The Indian used her reach to play some reverse angled strokes to catch Wang off guard and grabbed the lead when the Chinese found the net. She showed some great defensive skills to take the first game 22-20.

Sindhu carried that momentum in the second set and raced to a 8-3 lead and at the break she led 11-8 before Wang showed great defence which frustrated Sindhu. The Indian shuttler was leading 18-13 and it seemed the semi-final spot was just within her grasp when Wang Yihan hit back to win the next six points.

At the end of the match she brushed out her frustration to win the set by 21-19. Thus she became the second Indian lady to reach the semi-final of Olympic badminton event.

In the semi-final she has to face the world no.6 Nozomi Okuhara.

However, in wrestling most of the Medal hopes are getting deemed. Yesterday in the pre-quarterfinal match of Greco-Roman 98kg wrestling Hardeep Singh lost ending any Medal from Greco-Roman category. Hardeep Singh lost to Turkey’s Cenk Ildem 1-2 on points after fighting valiantly for the two periods.
