Internet Desk: Finally Brazil won their first match of the Rio Olympics. After two draws they won their last group match against Denmark by a big margin of 4-0. As a result being at the top of the groiup they reached the quarterfinal.

Gabigol scored twice on Wednesday (10 August) and Gabriel Jesus and Luan netted a goal each at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador in northeastern Brazil to keep alive the nation’s hopes of winning an Olympic gold medal in football for the first time. At least through this win they got some confidence which they might have lost making draw against Iraq.

Another bad news for the defending Gold Medalist Mexico is that they lost to defending Bronze Medalist Korea by 1-0. By this defeat the defending champions are out of the Olympics this time. From that group Korea and Germany reached the quarterfinal.

Argentina also made their exit from the Olympics football this time. Yesterday they made a draw against Honduras. As a result from their group Portugal along with Honduras made their way to quarterfinal.

Brazil will play their quarterfinal match against the runner up of Group-B, Columbia on 13th August. Unfortunately Portugal will face Germany in their quarterfinal match on the same day.
