Internet Desk: India’s one of the best goalkeepers Subrata Paul has been found guilty for doping by the anti-doping agency. But the truth has come out in a different way as it is learnt that the medicine which has created all the problems, was prescribed to Subrata in the national camp by the Indian football team Doctor Srijit Kamal in the last month.

Subrata has been suffering from a chronic cough and cold for a long time. During the national camp, Subrata asked Dr.Srijit for a cough syrup and and he prescribed that medicine to him which contained the banned substance Terbutaline. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator and is taken when people have trouble breathing or a medical condition such as asthma. A senior member of The AIFF medical team has also revealed www.xtratime.in that the doctor has confessed his fault to the federation and it was his fault and not Subrata’s. The AIFF source also told XtraTime that, the moment Subrata will show NADA the prescription of the national team doctor, he will no longer be suspended as it was not his fault.

The confusion went to a further height when All India Football Federation (AIFF) General Secretary Kushal Das told the media, “The banned substance is terbutaline. According to the NADA letter to AIFF, Subrata is under provisional suspension.”

Subrata’s coach and former goalkeeper Debasish Mukherjee said, “It was the team doctor who created all the problems and he himself confessed that to The AIFF. Then I don’t know why the AIFF General Secretary is talking about the provisional suspension. May be they are powerful, that’s why he saying all this.”

Subrata, himself has said he won’t use the option of getting his ‘B’ sample tested. “I will prove my innocence as I have played the game with honesty and integrity in my career of more than 10 years now. Then why should I do such silly thing at this age?”.

Veteran Sports Medicine expert Dr.Nisith Ranjan Chowdhury was India’s first doctor to get associated with FIFA, AFC, BWF, ICC, BCCI and he criticized such activity of the team doctor as he said, “The team doctor should know which drugs are banned by the NADA and WADA. He should have been cautious about prescribing the medicine to a great player like Subrata. It’s indeed unfortunate.”
