Kolkata: Double blow for Indian cricket team’s pace spearhead Mohammed Shami, as his wife Hasin Jahan today met Kolkata’s Commissioner of Police Mr. Rajib Kumar in Lalbazar to file a complaint against Shami about his extra-marital affairs. Her lawyer’s personal assistant and Joint Commissioner of Police Praveen Tripathi too was present there. As per Hasin, she has officially lodged a complaint against Shami there, but the police authority didn’t disclose anything to the media regarding this matter. If the sources are to be believed, Shami’s wife has given some strong evidence to the Commissioner of Police. Before leaving the premises, Hasin said,” I have given all the evidence to the police and I am hopeful that I will get justice as well.”
On the other hand BCCI is taking Ben Stokes policy regarding Mohammed Shami’s case, which was taken by England Cricket Board (ECB). After Ben Stokes row, the star England all-rounder was withheld by ECB but they didn’t ban him. BCCI too is following this model as this is not a cricketing issue and it was raised by his wife said a BCCI official. Earlier the BCCI stated that it is Shami’s personal matter and they won’t say anything regarding this matter, but in the evening they didn’t keep Shami in their contracted players list.
“The BCCI has taken cognisance of all the reports emerging about Mohammed Shami’s personal life. It is purely a personal matter and the BCCI has nothing to do with it. However, keeping in mind that the woman in question has met the police commissioner of Kolkata, it is only prudent on BCCI’s part to wait for any official inquiry to take place,” the official said.
“Hence Mohammed Shami’s name, for the time being, has been withheld from the central contracts that were announced today. We would like to reiterate this decision has nothing to do with Shami’s merit as a player but a safeguard in the prevailing circumstances,” he added.
After his wife’s allegation Shami desperately tried to deny all the allegations against him as he posted a message on his verified twitter handle today where he said,” Ye jitna bhi news hamara personal life ke bare may chal raha hai, ye sab sarasar jhut hai, ye koi bahut bada humare khilap sajish hai or ye mujhe Badnam karne or mera game kharab karne ka kosis ki ja rahi hai.” Surprisingly after his post, Hasin Jahan’s facebook account was deactivated. On being asked about this matter, Jahan’s lawyer Zakir Hossain alleged that,” We all know that Mohammed Shami is an influential figure and he has used his power to deactivate Jahan’s facebook account.”
Earlier it was in news that Shami is returning to Kolkata via Delhi from Dharamsala where he went to play Deodhar Trophy, but till the evening the star Indian pacer didn’t come to Kolkata. Meanwhile, Indian Premier League outfit Delhi Daredevils today announced Gautam Gambhir as their captain for the forthcoming season in an event. Shami too was invited their by the team management, but after this chaos Delhi Daredevils authority told him not to be present there in the programme.
