Rayudu fails Yo Yo test, likely to miss tour of England

Xtra Time Web Desk:
Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu is the latest addition to the list of cricketers who have failed the Yo-Yo test in recent times. The Hyderabad batsman joins Md Shami and Sanju Samson as they both failed the Yo-Yo tests carried out at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) few days back.

Md Shami failed to make it to squad for the ongoing test match against Afghanistan while Samson missed the India A teams tour to England.

The Indian team has set a standard parameter of clearing the Yo Yo test, which gives a measure of a player’s endurance and fitness. The current benchmark is 16.1 for the India senior team and A team.

According to sources, Rayudu looked gingerly during the Yo Yo tests, indicating he might have some problems.
First to turn up for the Yo Yo tests were Captain Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ambati Rayudu. The tests were carried at the “B” ground in the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The skipper ran at the “nets”. Later, after interacting with his team-mates, took his shoes off, signed on a board (maybe the result sheet) and headed back indoors, into the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Apart from Kohli, Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar, Washington Sundar, Siddarth Kaul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ambati Rayudu and Manish Pandey were spotted taking the yo-yo tests.

Kohli, who had to cancel his English county stint with Surrey due to a neck injury sustained during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, looked at ease as he ran under the watchful eyes of trainer Shankar Basu and others.
