CHENNAI : A devastating  spell (7/37) from  skipper Harbhajan Singh helped Punjab sail into the quarter finals of the Ranji Trophy . It was due to the effort from the turbunator , Tamil Nadu were dismissed for a paltry 69 in their second innings and guided  Punjab to a huge 243-run win . The Punjab captain had match-figures of 10/67 as Tamil Nadu were bowled out in just 22 overs while chasing 313 on a difficult track here today. It was one of the worst matches for Tamil Nadu as they scored 68 and 69 in their two innings.

The TNCA had prepared a turner keeping in mind their battery of spinners, but it was India’s third highest wicket-taker who made the most of the opportunity. The Tamil Nadu batsmen did not have any answer to his viciously turning deliveries and the bounce he generated off the track. As many as six Tamil Nadu batsmen were out without scoring, while Baba Aparajith (32) and Rajagopal Sathish (14) reached the double figures.

Earlier, Punjab were all out for 174 in 42.5 overs in their second innings with keeper-batsman Gitansh Khera scoring 43.
