New Delhi , December 22 : Punjab Royals upstaged favourite and Haryana Hammers to finish its league engagements by firming up a semifinal spot in the Pro Wrestling League at the K.D. Jadhav Indoor Stadium here.
The 5-2 result was Punjab’s third victory from five matches and Haryana’s first defeat in four outings. Mongolia’s Jargalsaikhan Chuluunbat set the tone for Punjab’s victory by scripting a 37-second rout — the shortest bout of the season — over Hitender in the 125-kg bout. Though Nirmala Dev levelled the score for Haryana, Vladimir Khinchegasvili and more creditably, Geeta Phogat pulled off contrasting victories to put Punjab 3-1 ahead.
