Kolkata: Ahead of the Rio Olympics 2016, Mouma Das’s problem has been resolved and she will be travelling to Rio on 23rd July. There has been silent tussle between Mouma and her personal coach Abhijit Roy Choudhury for the last couple of days.

For last few days practice of the Commonwealth Games silver winner was stopped as her personal coach in Kolkata withdrew to train her. With less than one month in hand for Rio 2016 it was unfortunate that Mouma was unable to practice.

The problem in between the player and the coach was not disclosed clearly. However, sources said, Mouma did not take her personal coach Abhijit Roy Choudhury with her during her tour to Japan last month. There was no rule to take personal coaches when the national coach is accompanying the team. As a result the coach did not entertain her in his tent for the last few days.

Mouma wrote a letter to the federation of her problem. They suggested her to practice anywhere else. However, getting a suitable place to practice was difficult at this moment for Mouma. At the time of her crisis friend and former Olympian Poulami Ghatak and her husband Arjun awardee Soumyadeep Roy came forward to practice with her. Her contract with Abhijit Roy Choudhury has been terminated and she is now training at Lake club, Santoshpur with Poulami and Soumyadeep Roy.

It has been also learnt that Mouma kept on receiving continuous threat messages on her whatsapp for terminating the contract with her coach Abhijt.

Regarding this issue, Mouma Das’s husband Kanchan Chakraborty said, “Yes every thing is fine now. We will be leaving for Rio on 23rd of July. Mouma has been training well now with Poulami and Soumyadeep. I am thankful to the duo of Poulami and Soumyadeep who stood by her side and is accompanying her in training. Her contract with Abhijit Sir is terminated.”
