Internet Desk: The Delhi High Court today has said that the election of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) won’t happen in December. They also nominated the Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi as the administrator till that period of time.

The court further added that the fresh election should be done within the five months time as the parent body of Indian football had violated the Sports Code.

The court gave this order on the basis of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which was brought by lawyer Rahul Mehra, in front of the apex court. After looking at all the documents the court set aside the December 20 election, where the current president Praful Patel was re-elected for his chair without any difficulties for the third time as the head of the AIFF’s governing body.

The Delhi High Court revised the order which was dated on December 15, 2016 and removed the stay order granted against the election procedure of the AIFF,” a release of the AIFF said at the time. “Accordingly, the Annual General Body Meeting of the AIFF will be held as scheduled on December 21, 2016, as per the agenda circulated to the members,” it added.

On being asked about the crisis in AIFF following Delhi HC order, AIFF Senior Vice President Subrata Dutta, said to www.xtratime.in that,”We are ready to abide by the Sports Code.  The elections were held according to our constitution & FIFA regulations which state that there has to be 5 proposers. But according to Sports Code it required only 2 proposers.”
