Internet Desk: Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-1 on Sunday and temporarily took the English Premier League runner-up spot. They are seven points behind leaders Chelsea, who stormed Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Arsenal entered the game practically to win. In the fifth minute, Alexis Sanchez isolated Theo Walcott with a breakout and the English international did not fail with only Claudio Bravo ahead.

With former team-mates Otamendi and Fernando on the pitch, Pep Guardiola’s men returned to the second half with another attitude and got the equalizer on 47th minute. Sane received the ball from David Silva and made it 1-1.

The Citizens would have consummated the turnaround. At 72 minutes Sterling worked well on a defense, pulled to the left foot and fired low, beating Peter Cech.

With this result, Manchester City surpasses the Gunners in the standings: now they are 36 points in the Premier League, seven fewer than the leader Chelsea.

At the same time, Tottenham also needed to do damage to get the better of Burnley (2-1). Ashley Barnes made it 1-0 for the visiting team in the 22nd minute, but the Spurs drew soon after for Dele Alli.

At 71 ‘, Danny Rose gave the victory to Tottenham, who reaches the 33 points and are just one point behind Arsenal.
