Internet Desk: When the whole nation is rejoicing over the Silver winning of P V Sindhu her coach Pullela Gopichand is focused on upgrading her performance. To inspire his student for her next badminton career Gopichand inspired her by saying that she will come even more stronger in coming times.

“I think she is still far away from complete transformation. I believe we have just seen glimpses of what she is capable of. She has got potential and I was waiting for her to realise that. It might take time,” Gopichand told reporters on Monday.

To inspire her student he further said, “She’s not yet played in so many big tournaments and finals to actually make things happen. She’s a strong athlete and will return stronger the next time”.

Coach of the Silver winner described how hard work she did for past one month previously. Being her coach Gopichand had seen her struggles from very close. He is the only person who can certify her by saying, “To generate that kind of energy going requires something special. She’s been fantastic in all the four matches and she’s fought well in the final as well. I’m very proud of the fact that she gave it all she had. Marin was the better player on the day, Sindhu has learnt a lesson today. Hopefully she will come back stronger the next time.”

He also expressed his pride on his student by saying, “We would have loved to get the gold but for her first Olympics and the way she played, I feel very very proud.”

About their journey to the Silver the Dronacharya coach said, “Athletes can have the belief but crack in the final moments. We had a great progress and fantastic preparation for the Olympics even in Rio as we were living in the same flat. So we could plan everything to perfection.”

It was a recapitulation of Sindhu’s hard work for her coach during the press meet. “Sometimes some one would say waking up at 4:30am may be some late. But that was not the case of Sindhu. If she was called at 4:30am she would say, ok, that is done”, Gopichand said.

Later, Gopichand jumped to put to an end to the regional controversy by simply stating, “Well, I can only say she (Sindhu) belongs to India.”
