Sabyasachi Bagchi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is ready to organize an exhibition match just like IPL for the women cricketers on May 22 just before first IPL playoff game at the Wankhede Stadium. The match has been sanctioned by the governing council of IPL and just like the cash rich league each team will have four foreign players as well. As per sources this might a dry run ahead of women’s IPL which will definitely start in near future. The match will be shown on Star network at 2.30pm.

The apex board and the CoA started planning of promoting the women’s cricket since the Indian eves reached the final of Women’s World Cup final last year. And the exhibition match in 10 days time can be the first step of that.

Veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami looked really happy with this decision.”I want to thank BCCI for this. It was in news for last few years time but for some reasons it was delayed. After we reached the final of the Women’s Cricket World Cup last year, it’s a massive moment for Indian Women’s cricket as well as World Cricket. I just want to see Women’s Indian Premier League just like men’s where four foreign cricketers beside the Indians will participate,” said Jhulan while taking to www.xtratime.in

Mithali Raj, under whom the Indian eves reached the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup told,” When we started our career we didn’t have much facilities but ahead of the end of our cricketing career we are getting the opportunities now and I am happy with that. If I get a chance to play Women’s IPL for at least one season before my retirement that would be great for me.”
