Kolkata: Bengal may have won the bragging rights for the origin of rosogolla, but the visiting Sri Lankan cricketers has been instructed not to savour the famous sweet of Kolkata. After about two-and a half years tug of war with Odhisha, West Bengal has won the Geographical Indications (GI) registration regarding the origin of Rosogolla. But it is learnt that the visiting Sri Lankan players have been asked to avoid any kind of sweets.

“We prepare players’ menu strictly suggested by the team management and they avoid sweets on tour”, said Madhumita Banerjee, the PR executive at Hotel Lalit.

It may be recalled that recently the Sri Lankan players were not allowed to eat biscuits in the dressing room when the Indian team visited Sri Lanka earlier this year.

“Our physio and trainer are in charge of food at game and they have banned biscuits in the changing room”, the team manager Asanka Gurusinha was quoted then.

It is not known whether Suranga Lakmal hurled his anger against the Indian batsmen for not being able to taste the famous sweet of Bengal. The Lankan fast bowler on a helpful Eden strip ripped through the Indian batting line up. The lanky pacer took all the three wickets without giving a single run in the five overs he bowled today.
