XtraTime Web Desk: Bangladesh cricket team faced a huge blow ahead of the tri-nation T20I series, which also involves Sri Lanka and India, as their skipper Shakib Al Hasan won’t feature in the tournament because he is still recovering from a finger injury sustained in January, Bangladesh Cricket board confirmed in a statement today.

The Bangladesh Cricket board earlier picked Shakib in their 16-men squad as they hoped that the veteran all-rounder will be fit ahead of the start of the tournament in Sri Lanka but later they changed their decision to give Shakib more rest as he needs sufficient time to recover.

In the absence of Shakib the batton will be on Mahmudullah’s hand where they will get tough competitions from India and the hosts Sri Lanka. Litton Das has replaced injured Shakib for the tour.

Bangladesh’s best all-rounder recenlty paid a visit to Bangkok where he met an orthopaedic and he suggested him that Shakib needs atleast two weeks therapy for rehab, and a week more to become fully fit to play.
