XtraTime Web Desk: Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni conferred with India’s third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan. He received the award from President Ram Nath Kovind. Not only Dhoni but also snooker player Pankaj Advani was also one of the awardee.
Weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and tennis player Somdev Devvarman were conferred with Padma Shri award.
India’s badminton player Kidambi Srikanth, become the second youngest sportsperson to receive Padma Shri award at the age of 25. Earlier, PV Sindhu got it when she was just 19.

However Mahendra Singh Dhoni received many awards including the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2007 and the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, in 2009.

Dhoni led India to lift two World Cup titles including  the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 and ICC World Cup in 2011. India also became ICC Champions Trophy winner under him.
Indian cricket team climbed up to the No.1 spot in the longest format of the game when he was the Skipper.
