MP Prasun Banerjee starts search for budding footballer

Kolkata: Former Indian national football team captain as well as present MP of Howrah Prasun Banerjee started his venture of bringing up budding footballers from Howrah today. The knock out round of Inter School MP Cup Football Tournament was kicked off by the MP himself this afternoon at Shibpur police line ground.

The tournament started comprising 180 football playing schools under the 18police station areas under the jurisdiction of the Howrah MP Prasun Banerjee. Howrah city police and Howrah district police jointly organized the tournament.

“I had the dream of organizing such tournament from earlier. I am thankful to the Howrah police division to help me organizing the tournament within three years of my tenure as the MP”, said Prasun Banerjee during the inauguration programme today.

Finally 18 schools have been selected from each group of 10schools under one police station. These 18 schools will play the knock out round from today. The MP is going to open a football training school selecting budding footballers from this tournament.

“The main aim is to start a high facility football training school in Howrah to nurture the budding footballers of the district. The residential school will provide education beside football training. We hope of generating good footballers of future form this school”, aspired Prasun Banerjee.

Today in this inaugural programme former footballers Gautam Sarkar, Aloke Mukherjee, Aloke Ghosh were present. Apart from the persons related to football CP of Howrah City Police Devendra Prakash Singh was also present in the programme.
