Mohun Bagan Desperate For 3 Points Against Highlanders Ahead Of The Derby

Internet Desk: Mohun Bagan will look to settle their lead in the top of the table and move a place ahead in the Championship with a win against highlanders Aizawl FC at Aizawl on Saturday. In the first leg at Barasat Mohun Bagan defeated Aizawl FC 3-1 with the help of a brace from Cornell Glen.

The Mariners will be without the services of some crucial players who will be unavailable for international duty. players unavailable are Sony Norde, Jeje Lalpekhlua, Pritam Kotal, Pronay Halder. Balwant Singh is also unavailable due to injury.

Sanjoy Sen whose suspension is still retained by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee will not be able to sit neither in the reserve bench nor he will be able to visit the dressing room.

Sanjoy Sen quoted as saying, ” This is going to be a important fixture for us ahead of the derby. We want to cement our place with a win in the top of the table. Aizawl FC is now a much more improved side. They have included some news players and appointed a new coach. Aizawl FC is under relegation  zone so they will try to hit back to us. We have to be careful on that.”

On asking the Mariners coach about the match strategy and tactics, the gaffer replied,” My aim will be to win but at first I will try and compose my defense well so that we don’t concede any goals. I will fight with whatever materials I have. I have explained my players and Sankarlal (Assistant coach) everything in details.”

Sankarlal Chakraborty, Bagan’s Assistant coach quoted as saying,” This is not the first time we will be playing without Sanjoyda in the dugout. We have played before and have won the matches too”. Talking about some players absent due to international duty, Sankarlal said,” It will be challenging but we are not scared of anything. We will fight till the end amidst all the difficulties.”
