Kolkata , December 22 : He played a very key role in helping Chennaiyin FC emerge as the champions of ISL 2 . Harmanjot Singh Khabra , popularly known as HK7 have been with the Machans from season one . In an interview with “Xtra Time ” Khabra revealed his journey.
Have you sort of sunk in after winning the ISL Final?We were awake the whole night. We were dancing till the wee hours in the morning as we have a flight to catch to Chennai. It’s a great feeling that can’t be described in words. Everybody in the team is delighted.
Having won the Kolkata League and the ISL how does it feel to be part of two champion team in the same year?
These are two different leagues. Winning the CFL was altogether a different experience. But here in Chennai its more about the fans. You don’t get to see a club culture here but the excitement is same amongst the fans.
Which has been your best match in this years ISL?
Obviously the final match is a special one as there was excitement till the last moment. To make a comeback strongly after being down 2-1 speaks volume about our team spirit. It has been a great journey right thorough out the ISL. I will cherish this moment forever.
Which has been your worst moment in ISL?
Getting suspended for two matches after being shown the red card against North East FC.
How do you find Abhishek Bachchan as a team owner after being with the team for the last couple of the season?
He has been the teams back bone . He constantly supporting us. It is something unimaginable to have this kind of support from a team owner. He used to cheer us when we were going through a bad phase. He used to stay with us in the same team hotel and always encourage us. He hardly misses a match and always encourage us from the stands.
Talk us about Marco Materazzi’s role in the team.
He has been the guiding force behind the team’s splendid success. He has been a thorough team man and have credited the team for winning the ISL. Presence of a player like him in the dressing room always motivates us.
Who do you want to dedicate this win ?
We all would like to dedicate this win the flood victims of Chennai.
Khabra will be back in Kolkata on Tuesday and will join the club practice in a couple of days. East Bengal will kick off their I-league campaign from January 10 against Sporting Clube de Goa in Goa.
