Kolkata: Famous Orthopedic Dr. Kalyan Mujherjee is no more. The doctor who served the Indian sports fraternity for ages has breathed his last at the age of 83. The legendary doctor’s sad demise has left the entire sports fraternity on heavy hearts. www.xtratime.in spoke with the legends of the Kolkata Maidan who knew the man very closely.

Subrata Bhattacharya: He was a God to the players. He had huge knowledge about the game. For the knee and ankle injuries, he was an unparalleled solution for all of us. Got tremendously hurt to see such a bad news that he is no more. Deep condolences to his family.

Surajit Sengupta: In the early days, we used to go to him as a patient. Later, we became a lot cordial. He was associated with a sports team in England and that injected him the love he had for the sportspeople. Everyone knows how great a doctor he was. I continued my career for a longer period only because of him. It will be big loss for of us.

Dr. M.S Ghosh (Famous orthopedic): He was two years junior to me. Will miss him. He was a multi-talented human being. I have deep condolences for him and will be praying to the God so that his family gets the strength to deal with this tough situation. He replaced me to become the President of West Bengal Association of Sports Medicine. We always used to have a great relationship. Can’t believe he is no more.

Dr. Nishith Ranjan Chowdhury: He was the first to start the practice on Sports Medicine at Kolkata. He was previously in England and he had a great rapport with the players. The players too used to love him as he used to update him regularly. When West Bengal Association of Sports Medicine was formed, I brought both Dr. M.S Ghosh and Dr. Kalyan Mukherjee at Kolkata for the treatment of the players. I am really shocked by the news.
