Image Source: Xtra Time[/caption] Kolkata: In a fitting tribute to late BCCI & ICC President Jagmohan Dalmiya, Chandernagore Sporting Association has decided to unveil his statue on the occasion of his 76th birth anniversary which falls on May 30. This is the first time that a local association has come forward to pay tribute to the renowned cricket administrator. Mr Dalmiya passed away on September 30 last year at the age of 75 years after being admitted with chest pain to a city hospital. Late Jagmohan Dalmiya will forever be remembered as the man who made Indian cricket a self-sufficient entity and engineered a shift of power base from its spiritual home at Lord’s to Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. According to Bamapada Chatterjee, general secretary of the association , “We all know about his contribution to world cricket. So, as a mark of tribute we have decided to unveil his statue on the auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary on May 30. We will also organize an exhibition cricket match between CAB XI and Chandernagore Sporting Association.” The exhibition cricket match will be played at the Shahid Kanailal ground. Late Dalmiya’s son Abhishek and daughter Vaishali are likely to attend the ceremony.
