The visitors were fortunate to escape without a fifth consecutive league defeat in San Sebastian as Carlos Vela hit the woodwork twice and Juanmi’s header 14 minutes from time was wrongly ruled out for offside.
The result leaves the Catalans six points off the top of the Liga table, though, with Luis Enrique’s side facing leaders Real Madrid in El Classico next week. That could prove a defining clash in the Spanish title race this season.
If Real Madrid manages to win the El Classico on December 03, then the title hopes for the Catalans will almost be over as the gap between the sides will increase to 9 points.
