Kolkata: Normally head coaches don’t watch the games of the rivals by being present in the ground as they often send their assistant coaches. However this norm was broken by East Bengal gaffer Khalid Jamil who was present at the Kalyani Stadium today to witness the game of his arch-rivals.

Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting Club faced each other in the Mini-Derby in which the Mariners won the game in a thrilling fashion owing to a brilliant brace from young Azharuddin Mullick.

The Mariners were trailing after Md. Faiz scored for the Black Panthers while Azhar made it 1-1 before the half time. Azhar doubled his tally in the 90+1 minute the game to seal the victory for the Green and Maroon brigade.

Khalid’s Red and Golden brigade will face Mohammedan on 16th followed by the Kolkata Derby on September 24. One can easily guess that Jamil was present in the stadium to watch the both his rivals and use them to his advantage and exploit his rivals.

“As of now I am focused in the next game. I will think about the derby later. Both are good teams” said Khalid before leaving the stadium as the scores were still tied 1-1. The coach didn’t wait for the match to finish and didn’t witness the last goal of the game.

However upon knowing the fact that Khalid Jamil had visited the ground to witness the game, Bagan coach Shankarlal Chakraborty after the match exclaimed, “Ohh he came to watch the match? Good. But we are not recruiting any new player, neither do we have that much time so we will play with this same team”.
