Kolkata: Legendary Indian batsman was the first sportsman from the country to confer with the prestigious Bharat Ratna Award 2014 for his vast contribution in cricket. It is India’s highest civilian award. After this incident many critics had started saying that Hockey Legend Major Dhyanchand deserved to win the Bharat Ratna Award as the first sportsman. Today another sportsman from India has questioned Sachin’s Bharat Ratna too.
Holy Amarnath Yatra is a pilgrimage of the Hindu’s. Every year around lakhs of devotees visit the state of Jammu and Kashmir to walk through a challenging path to reach the Amarnath temple and bow to the ice Shiva Linga that appears there naturally. Last night the terrorists attacked a bus which was carrying the pilgrims of Amarnath. In the attack 6 people were killed who were in the bus and expect them five security personnel were also found dead after the firing. Like the others, Indian cricketing legend Sachin expressed his deep condolence on twitter too.
He tweeted, “Deeply disturbed by the terror attack on #AmarnathYatra pilgrims. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families.”
After the tweet Indian shooter and Olympian Joydeep Karmakar replied to the tweet and sarcastically questioned how Sachin was conferred with the Bharat Ratna Award.
Joydeep tweeted- “What a grammatically correct statement..no wonder you deserved the Bharat Ratna”
On being asked about the matter, Joydeep told www.xtratime.in, “There is no doubt that Sachin is one of the best sportsperson that India has ever produced, but after his retirement he didn’t do much for the country till now. According to me if you are getting the Bharat Ratna which is the highest civilian award of the country, you have to do something for the nation. But as of now he did nothing like that.”
Sachin fans thought that Joydeep had attacked Sachin’s grammar and after that a lot of them started calling him an Angrez and other names. Joydeep though said,” I don’t bother about what others are saying. They think that I have questioned Sachin’s grammar but it was not my motive. It was just a formal protest from my side to Sachin.”
