The nature of injury was nothing less than serious as the striker was taken off after 22 minutes. The Indian striker injured his calf muscle in the match and had to be substituted by Chennaiyin FC coach Marco Materazzi. Young Daniel Lalhimpuia replaced Jeje.

The striker was taken for a MRI on Monday to know the extent of the injury. The Chennaiyin FC management is awaiting the MRI report.

According to reports coming from Chennai, Jeje had an injury to his left calf muscle. The injury is not serious and he will be available for action in the next match against Mumbai City FC on November 23 at the Andheri Sports Complex.

The Indian striker also missed the first two games of ISL due to injury. He marked his return in the match against FC Pune City. Not only did he score a spectacular goal but also won the Hero of the Match award. So far the striker has scored three goals in ISL. Out of the three goals that he scored both came against FC Pune City. The other goal was scored against Mumbai City FC.

The injury to Jeje will also leave Mohun Bagan officials concerned as the 25 year old striker is inclined to sign in favour of them once his agent comes back to India.

Jeje, who plied his trade with Mohun Bagan last season, has not given a final word to Mohun Bagan yet as he is busy playing in Indian Super League (ISL) for Chennaiyin FC. The talismanic striker has urged the officials to give him time to decide after the end of Indian Super League (ISL) season. Bagan’s arch rivals East Bengal were also in talks with Jeje’s agent but it looks highly unlikely that he will sign for them. Jeje will take a decision soon after November 23.

The career of Jeje Lalpekhlua has just rocketed skywards in the past 12 months. It started with him winning the I League for Mohun Bagan in May 2015. Six months later, he was part of the victorious Chennaiyin FC side that won the ISL in Januray this year. The 25 year old diminutive striker stamped his authority in Indian football when he scored thrice in four matches to help India winning the South Asian Football Federation championship.
