It's Official: Lionel Messi to leave FC Barcelona
Xtra Time Web Desk: Lionel Messi’s long standing relationship with FC Barcelona is finally coming to an end after the Spanish club officially announced that despite the club and Lionel Messi reaching an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract on Thursday, it could not happen because of financial and structural obstacles as per the Spanish Liga regulations.
As a result of this situation, Barcelona announced that Messi shall not be staying on at the Catalan club. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.
The statement also stated that FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expressed its gratitude to the Argentine soccer legend for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wished him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.
