Kolkata:
Right when the the entire football fraternity is in a spell of doubt about the discussed structure of Indian football, www.xtratime.in correspondent Gopal Roy caught up on phone with The AIFF Secretary Mr Kushal Das to know about the present crisis of Indian club football. Here goes the conversation:

XT: The Kolkata clubs are waiting for the official proposal letter from The AIFF. When will the federation send that?

Kushal: I have already sent a mail to East Bengal and Mohun Bagan to inform that we cannot send the proposal letter unless we discuss with all the stakeholders.

XT: Yesterday the two Kolkata heavyweights and The IFA held a meeting. They are in doubts about the arrival of that letter. What do you want to say about it?

Kushal: They will get that letter for sure. It’s not the case of Kolkata football, we are concerned about the Indian football. We cannot take any decision at whim. We will speak with all the stakeholders, then we will speak with the AIFF President. After that we will inform the matter to The AFC and then we can send the letter to the clubs.

It’s good that the Kolkata clubs are also active in this procedure in their own ways.

XT:  What is the stand of the ISL franchises regarding the new proposal of playing the Champions League?

Kushal: Right now I’m at Mumbai. Will discuss the matter with FSDL on today and tomorrow. Then will come to know about their thoughts.

XT: Will the players be put on a draft for the new season?

Kushal: Right now. it’s difficult to say if the draft will happen or not. But the players who are already on contracts with their respective clubs, will not be put on a draft. At the same time, there are a lot of players this season who are free this season and not in contracts with any club.

XT: Will there be any advertisement get some new I-League clubs?

Kushal: Why? None of the clubs told us that they are pulling out. So, there is no question of doing that.

Meanwhile, The IFA too confessed that they got a letter from the AIFF Secretary but the approach of the mail was quite different compare to the discussion held at the AIFF meeting, according to IFA Secretary Utpal Ganguli. He said, “The AIFF President requested us to accept the last proposal and he promised us that he would take it forward if the clubs give the nod. But today, the mail we got, it was said that the Secretary would be discussing the proposal with the stakeholders, which was quite different compare to the approach we expected. I have requested the President to intervene.”
