Kolkata: Mohun Bagan thrashed Salgaocar 3-1 on Saturday to continue their unbeaten run and remain at the top of the table. The Mariners are set to face Odafa lead Sporting Clube de Goa on Tuesday in a crucial encounter at Fatorda Stadium in Goa.

Sanjoy Sen seemed not to be worried of Odafa at all prior to this match against Sporting. He said, “Odafa is a human being only. He is nobody different.  Why should we be scared of him? It’s better to die than to be scared of Odafa. We are giving importance to the team Sporting as a whole , not any particular individual.”

Bagan missed the services of Pronoy Halder and Luciano Sabrosa in the last match due to suspension which they received during the home match against Sporting. The duo will be back on duty against Sporting after one match suspension. Regarding this, Sanjoy quoted, “We did not have Pronoy and Luciano in the squad against Salgaocar but did it affect our performance on the field? Lenny and Sanjay Balmuchu were exceptional against Salgaocar. Remember we play as a team. I always give stress on playing as a unit.

Biswajit Bhattachrya was there in the stadium to watch the match between Salgaocar and Mohun Bagan. Did Sanjoy speak to his counterpart? He replied, “I am not here to chat with anyone.” He later added, “Sporting is a good side. They tend to play as a unit. As I have said earlier, I don’t set my strategy surrounding an individual. I will set my strategy surrounding the whole team. One more thing, I don’t inject to my players mind that we are unbeaten. This will put pressure on my players. My aim is only 3 points. To win the league we need maximum points from the away matches.”

Mohun Bagan face Sporting Clube de Goa on March 1 from 7 p.m.
