Kolkata: Bengal’s pride Abhijit Sarker, Rahim Ali and Jitender Singh today returned to the City of Joy after completing their FIFA U17 World Cup campaign for India. Though the hosts nation have lost all three matches in the FIFA U17 World Cup but they fought valiantly against opponents like USA, Colombia and Ghana. The whole world praised for their fighting spirit.

Rahim Ali’s father Md. Rafique, mother Seema Begam and friends were present at the airport to receive him, Jitender Singh’s elder brother was there for him and Abhijit Sarker’s childhood coach himself came to take his student home. The supporters felicitated all three players at the airport with flower bouquet and sweets. Now they will spend some time with their family and after five days the AIFF will inform them about their next assignment.

Abhijit Sarker looked a bit down after arriving at Kolkata. If he could capitalize on the one on one chance against Colombia in their second match, he would have become the first goal scorer for India in FIFA World Cup ahead of Jeakson Singh.” I got a great opportunity against Colombia but lost that golden chance. I still can’t forget that moment but it was a great learing process for everyone,” said Abhijit

Rahim Ali said,” It was a great learning process for me as it will help me to play better in future.”

Jitender Singh couldn’t sleep last night after India lost the game against Ghana 4-0.” I couldn’t sleep last night after we failed to reach the knock-out stages,” concluded Jitender.
