The franchise from Kolkata has been entangled in a fresh controversy surrounding their coach Jose Molina. The Atletico coach didn’t attend the pre match press conference in time, inviting a warning from the league officials. The Kolkata franchise have been given an official warning stating if the same thing is repeated then the franchise will have to pay a heavy fine. The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon after Molina came late for the pre match conference. The reason given by the Spanish coach was that he was stuck in a traffic jam while coming from hotel to the stadium. Molina was late for 40 minutes. During the press conference there was neither a player nor a manager present in the room. Only Atletico’s sports director Alberto Morero was present with Jose Molina,to whom the city was unknown too. It is nothing new for the Kolkata franchise as during the time of Antonio Habas, there were several occasions when the Bolivian coach sparked off controversies by not coming for the press conferences. It seems the Atletico de Kolkata management is not too bothered whether or not their coach attends the pre match conference on time. Atletico will face Kerala Blasters in their second match of Hero ISL season 3 on Wednesday. Atletico played a 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC in their first game at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Sunday. The hosts Blasters on the other hand lost their opening tie to North East United by 0-1. It’s an important game for both the teams as they need to register their first win in the tournament.
