ISL 2018/19: India’s hero in FIFA U17 World Cup to sign for Kerala Blasters

Suman Chakravorty:
ISL side Kerala Blasters FC on the verge of signing India’s hero in the FIFA U17 World Cup, Jeakson Singh. The Minerva Punjab Academy product was the first ever goalscorer for India in the esteemed competition.

In an interaction with www.xtratime.in , Minerva owner Ranjit Bajaj told, “Yes, he is my player but as all the youngsters are scampering behind the glamour, he too wants to sign for Kerala Blasters to play in the ISL. The objective of my club is to produce as many players as possible and yes, Jeakson will now play for them on loan.”

The Manipur-born midfielder has led Minerva Punjab to AIFF U-15 & U-16 Youth League titles two years in a row and is one of the mainstays in midfield for All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) developmental team.

Last season, he made eight appearances for the Arrows and will now be hoping to build on that before returning to Kerala.

“The FIFA U-17 World Cup last year in India has had a strong influence on Indian football with the quality of young players coming through,” Kerala Blasters head coach David James had said recently.
