XtraTime Web Desk: The Indian Super League season 5 inauguration took place at the Salt Lake Stadium today ahead of the game between the hosts ATK & Kerala Blasters. Like the other years there was no extra gem in the opening ceremony. The flag bearers from Italy hoisted the flags of all the franchise teams at first and beside that they also showed a few tricks as well to the spectators as well.
Two artificial stadiums are made beside the tunnel. One for the home side ATK and another for the away side Kerala Blasters. The ATK supporters had come in numbers at the side of ATK dugout. On the other hand Kerala Blasters supporters gathered as well on the away side.
After some local Bengali rituals the gold medal winner of Asian Games 2018 Hima Das took the ball into the ground and she handed over the ball to the chairperson of FSDL Smt. Nita Ambani. The ISL Trophy was carried by the co-owner of Chennai City FC Abhishek Bachchan as his side won the league last season. Former Indian cricket team captain and ATK co-owner Sourav Ganguly and Sanjeev Goenka were present at the grand opening as well. “How are you Kolkata”, asked Nita Ambani in Bengali while inaugurating the season 5 of the cash rich league.
