ISL 2017: What did new Delhi Dynamos Head Coach say about the new season?

Internet Desk: North-India based ISL franchisee Delhi Dynamos FC introduced Miguel Angel Portugal as the new head coach for the new upcoming season of 2017. The former Real Madrid player replaces Gianluca Zambrotta who held the reins of the team in the previous season.

Miguel began his coaching career way back in 1996 when took charge of Arandina, a team of the Spanish third division league. He was then appointed as the coach of Real Madrid C and then followed by Real Madrid B team. Both the Madrid teams flourished under his coaching and leadership. He was also the technical director of the Real Madrid senior team. Miguel was currently coaching CS Constantinois before joining the Indian team.

The 61 year old had an illustrious playing career which span over a decade and half in which he played in Real Madrid, Valladoid and Rayo Vallecano.

“I am looking forward to joining the ISL in India. Being involved with Delhi Dynamos is a great opportunity to be a part of the growing football revolution that is taking shape in the country. When I was in Algeria the ISL was always the point of discussion. The club truly plays like a lion and it wasn’t a difficult decision for me to sign up to play my part is shaping the club’s future success” said Miguel

The board members of Delhi Dynamos are also pleased in announcing their new coach for the season.
“This is a new season for Delhi Dynamos FC with a new team and it was extremely critical for us to have someone like Miguel at the helm” said Rohan Sharma, The Director of the Delhi Dynamos FC.

CEO of the Delhi team Ashish Shah said “We are in constant discussion with Miguel over building the very best team here at the club.”

Delhi Dynamos FC is the only club from the Northern district of the nation and has a big fan base. The team emerged as one of the most consistent teams of the tournament when it progressed to the semis in the last two seasons and also won the fair play award for the last two seasons.
