Manohar Internet Desk: ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar seems to be favouring Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at least the turnout of events suggests so. Mr Manohar has recently received an invitation from outgoing PCB chief Shahryar Khan to visit Pakistan. Mr Khan invited Manohar in the last ICC meeting held in London. It is learnt that the PCB is looking for Manohar’s support to host a World XI. The ICC had earlier announced its plans of sending a World XI team to Pakistan later this year for a three-match T20 series in an attempt to resume international cricket in the country. According to a senior BCCI member (didn’t wish to be quoted) this is a clear case of Manohar favouring the PCB. It is true that Pakistan cricket has suffered a huge blow ever since the attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore in 2009. Following which none of the test playing nations has toured Pakistan apart from Zimbabwe who visited for a limited-overs series a couple of years ago PCB were forced to play all their ‘home’ matches outside of the country in the United Arabia Emirates. But with Pakistan successfully staging the PSL final in Lahore this year, talks of resuming international cricket in the country began doing the rounds. Najam Sethi, who is expected to take Khan’s position once his tenure comes to an end in August, said that staging the match against the World XI side is important for Pakistan cricket. The head of the PCB executive committee also said the ICC will decide the skipper of the touring side.
