Kolkata : It’s official as Mahendra Singh Dhoni reunites with his former Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming . Mr. Sanjiv Goenka, owner of Pune franchisee of IPL announced in Kolkata today the signing of Stephen Fleming as the coach of the Team for the upcoming IPL session which begins on 9th April.
Mr. Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group announced in Kolkata today:
“I warmly welcome Stephen Fleming as the Chief Coach. He has been remarkably successful as a player in the international arena and I firmly believe that his technical knowhow, perseverance and organisation skills will work wonders for our team. I have tremendous faith in his leadership ability and believe that it would have a positive impact on our team members.”
In the December draft, Pune Franchisee selected names such as M S Dhoni, RavichandranAshwin, AjinkyaRahane, Faf du Plessis and Steve Smith. The auction is expected to happen on 6 February.
There have been speculation that the Pune franchise, owned by Sanjeev Goenka’s New Rising, is likely to be appoint Fleming as their head coach.
Earlier in the IPL draft, Pune franchise had bought five players – including CSK’s Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin, Faf du Plessis and Rajasthan Royals’ Ajinkya Rahane and Steven Smith.
