IPL 2018: Three arrested from West Bengal for being involved in betting

The Indian Premier League has always been a tournament where the bookies get involved with crores of money in different rackets. The latest has been caught red-handed in West Bengal.

Three people have been arrested here for running a betting racket on the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, a police officer said.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house at the Gayeshpur Bedibhawan area in Kalyani on Saturday night and nabbed two brothers — Jayanta Biswas and Debabrata Biswas — for their involvement in cricket betting, he said.
One tablet, three mobile phones and Rs. 2700 in cash were seized from them.
“The duo confessed to their involvement in IPL betting. They said Hira alias Pappu Das, a resident of Dumdum Cantonment, was running the racket. We arrested him too,” Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Kalyani, Subrata Kangshabanik, said.
