XtraTime Web Desk: Two times IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders has appointed Abhishek Nayar as the mentor of the side. The former Mumbai all rounder has been added to the support staff as a mentor for the young guns in the side. Nayar, who played for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been linked with reviving the career of KKR captain Dinesh Karthik.

The Knight Riders captain did not hesitate to admit that Nayar has played a huge role in transforming his career.

On Saturday, the Knight Riders brought in the 34-year-old as one of its support staff. Though Nayar’s exact role with the franchise is still unclear, KKR CEO Venky Mysore has confirmed that he will help in mentoring the side.

“We are pleased to welcome Abhishek Nayar to the KKR support staff. The younger talent of the team will particularly benefit from Nayar’s experience and mentoring,” Mysore said.

Nayar joins KKR which has former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis at the helm, and Simon Katich and Heath Streak as an assistant coach and bowling coach respectively.

Nair has played three ODIs for India apart from playing 99 first-class games.
