IPL 2018: 5 reasons behind CSK’s win against SunRisers Hyderabad

XtraTime Web Desk: Faf du Plessis top knock against SunRisers Hyderabad last night helped Chennai Super Kings to reach their seventh IPL finals in 11 seasons. Now SunRisers have to win at the Eden Gardens in the second playoff to reach the final. At one stage Chennai Super Kings were on 62 for the loss of six wickets but they fought back valiantly to make a dramatic comeback.  Here we will discuss about the 5 reasons of CSK’s win against SRH last night.

Removing SRH’s top order quickly

The main reason behind SunRisers Hyderabad’s rise was their top order. Last night CSK bowled brilliantly as they broke the top order of the table toppers. Shikhar Dhawan got out on a golden duck to young Deepak Chahar, after that SRH skipper Kane Williamson who is going through red hot form gone after scoring just 24 runs. The Hyderabad based outfit failed to recover from that early blows from CSK.

Restrict Hyderabad’s middle order from scoring runs

Though the top order batsmen of SRH failed miserably last night but despite of that they have a strong middle order comprising with Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Shakib Al Hasan and Carlos Brathwaite. Except Brathwaite all other batsmen failed miserably at the Wankhede last night in front of Bravo, Ngidi, Jadeja and Chahar.

Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling

Though all the bowlers of CSK made a mark in the first playoff but Ravindra Jadeja’s most economic bowling was another reason for Chennai’s success. He took the wicket of star batsman Manish Pandey in the process. His final figure was 13/1 in his allotted 4 overs spell.

Incredible batting display by Faf du Plessis

He didn’t get many chances for CSK this season due to his poor form in this season and Sam Billings was in the team in place of him. In the playoffs he proved everyone wrong last night and played a match winning knock of 67 runs from just 42 deliveries as well. He was the main reason for CSK to reach the finals for the seventh time.

Support from the lower order

Young uncapped bowler Deepak Chahar not only bowled very well for Chennai last night but played a valuable knock of 10 runs in that moment when each run was just like gold for CSK. His well support to Faf took the game away from SunRisers Hyderabad.
