XtraTime Desk: Indian Premier League season 11 is set to begin in a couple of months time. A lot of rewnowned power hitters and a few new comers from India as well as abroad will showcase their talent in the cash rich league. There are a few players who performed really well in the last few season for their respective franchises, but shockingly the franchises didn’t pick them in this year’s IPL auction despite of having a chance of getting them via Right to Match card (RTM). Here we will talk about five cricketers who would be looking to destroy their former team in this season’s IPL.
Chris Gayle: In last couple of years the Jamaican Maestro didn’t perform well for Royal Challengers Bangalore and that might be the reason for his exclusion. Though before that period he was the key person behind RCB’s success, he also performed really well in the last season’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). None of the franchise showed their interest to buy Gayle in this year’s auction. Just ahead of the end of this season’s auction, Prity Zinta’s Kings XI Punjab picked him on his base price. Now it will be interesting to see whether Gayle can prove his former franchise wrong by playing some destructive knocks against them.
Glenn Maxwell: The Aussie power-hitter came under spotlight during IPL 2014 where he took his team, Kings XI Punjab in final of the tournament. He scored 552 runs in just 16 matches to showcase his talent in front of the world. Though his performance did detoriate in next two seasons but he again scored 310 runs in last year’s tournament. This year KXIP didn’t show any interest to keep Maxi and Delhi Daredevils picked him for season 11. Maxwell will definitely eyeing to prove Punjab wrong by showing his blistering form again.
Shakib Al Hasan: He has been regarded as world’s one of the best all-rounders in the modern day cricket. His former IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders won two titles in 2012 and 2014 where he contributed with both bat and ball. Shakib played only one match for KKR last season and this year they haven’t kept him in the squad and Sunrisers Hyderbad picked him for this season.
Yusuf Pathan: Sunrisers Hyderabad also picked Yusuf this season who played for KKR in last seven seasons. He was also a part of KKR in their two title winning seasons, but the management didn’t pick him too like Shakib this season.
Ravichandran Ashwin: India’s ace all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin played for Rising Pune Supergiant in last couple of seasons as his former side Chennai Super Kings was banned from the tournament for the spot fixing controversies. After CSK returned in this year’s IPL they have almost kept all their core players except Ashwin, which is really very shocking. Ashwin will play for Kings XI Punjab this season and he would be looking forward to prove CSK management wrong by destroying their batting line-up.
