Internet Desk: Kolkata Knight Rider’s opener Chris Lynn looks to be a doubtful starter for Thursday’s clash against Kings XI Punjab at the Eden Gardens. The Australian cricketer injured his left shoulder in the last match against Mumbai Indians and is yet to recover fully for the match tomorrow. Lynn was in superlative form for KKR this season and his absence may come as a huge blow for the Purple Brigade.

Kings XI Punjab on the other hand is on a role at the moment having won both their matches so far. Captain Glenn Maxwell has made his presence felt with his bold moves and have pulled a rabbit out of hat with back-to-back wins against Rising Pune Supergiant and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Aussie has grabbed the opportunity of captaincy with both hands after he was preferred over the likes of Eoin Morgan and Darren Sammy.

His 44 not out led a six-wicket win over RPS, while in the next match he remained unbeaten on 43 from 22 balls to script a commanding eight-wicket win over RCB.

It will be an interesting duel between the two Indian fast bowlers in both sides, who bowled in tandem in the recently concluded test series against Australia. The hosts will be bolstered by the return of Umesh Yadav, while Ishant Sharma may sneak into the playing eleven for Kings.

The hosts will also look to shrug off the disappointment of the game against Mumbai Indians. In spite of the absence of Lynn, KKR still have the resources to come good against the Kings XI Punjab. The onus will be on the batsmen like Suryakumar Yadav, skipper Gambhir, Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, who joined the squad in Mumbai, will also add strength to the hosts batting line up. It goes to be seen whether Shakib does make it to the playing eleven tomorrow along with England’s Chris Woakes. The English cricketer is pretty handy with his batting as well. Umesh Yadav is also likely to replace Ankit Rajpoot, who gave away 19 runs in the penultimate over against Mumbai, who chased down KKR's challenging 178 with a ball to spare.

With all their bases covered in bowling, KKR will look to revel in home conditions but their batting still looks depleted, in the likely absence of Lynn. KKR’s four foreigners will include Sunil Narine, Shakib al Hasan, Chris Woakes and Trent Boult. Lynn' absence would mean Robin Uthappa would be back to opening and his prolonged lean patch is a cause of concern for the home team. The visitors will be high on confidence having won both their opening matches. The only worry for the visitors will be their in-experience in death bowling when AB de Villiers tore Sandeep Sharma and Mohit Sharma apart. With the likes of Glenn Maxwell and David Miller, KXIP does have the fire-power to take on any bowling attack on their day.

The match will also be a homecoming for KXIP wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha who would look to thrive on his current form.
