India’s two best lady shooters present a nail-biting contest

Kolkata: An unique first of its kind shooting match called “Epic Duel”, a concept by Joydeep had happened in the fourth Inter School Shooting Championship for the first time today where Kolkata’s Mehuli Ghosh, who is regarded as India’s best shooter in youth and junior category beat Jaipur’s Manini Kaushik 12-5 in a long seventeen set match in 10 meter air rifle category to the revenge of her loss in National Championship. She received a sword and a cash of rupees fifty thousand after her win.

“I was a bit down after my loss against her in the National Championship. Today I was determined that I would play the match aggressively and I am happy that I have won the match against her,” said Mehuli.

On being asked whether she was thinking about her loss against Manini in the National Championship during today’s match, Mehuli added,” Yes It was working on the back of my mind, but both of us were playing the match to win it and I am happy that I have won the match.”

Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary was present at the grand event today. He said,” This is the first time that I have come to watch a shooting tournament and I am mesmerized to watch the epic dual between these two young girls. It doesn’t matter to me who have won the match I want to congratulate both of them for their future.”

JKSA founder and the organizer of the tournament Olympian Joydeep Karmakar said,” It was my dream to organize the ‘Epic Duel’ when I started the tournament few years back. I am happy that finally it has happened. Next year we will try to do this with more exposure.”
