Internet Desk: India one of the best goalkeepers, famously called the “Spiderman of South-East Asia”, Subrata Paul has failed to a dope test conducted by the NADA and is now on verge of facing a suspension.

It is learnt that the anti-doping agency has sent a letter to The AIFF on Monday night informing the federation  about the goalkeeper’s failed dope test, although no official  had confirmed if the experienced custodian has already been placed under suspension.

Subrata has been in really good form donning DSK Shivajians colours in the ongoing I-League, India’s premier football competition.

Sources revealed Subrata was tested during the national team camp in Mumbai on March 18, just a day before the team travelled to Cambodia for a friendly ahead of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Myanmar.

The AIFF General Secretary Kusal Das said, “The AIFF is not responsible for this. It’s between NADA and the respective player. Both AIFF and FIFA have been informed about this. If Subrata can directly convince the NADA through an appeal that it was an accidental case, then it’s a different thing. Otherwise, he might get suspended by NADA.”

Subrata is no longer the automatic choice for the Indian team and his place has been taken over by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. In fact, the Norway-based Gurpreet captained the team for the second successive match against Cambodia.
