Indian shuttler PV Sindhu reaches career best world ranking

Internet Desk: India’s star shuttler and Rio Olympics silver medalist P.V. Sindhu has reached career best world rankings after she climbed to the second spot in the Badminton World Fedaration rankings on Thursday.

Sindhu gained three places in the rankings after her India Open Super Series victory last week. She beat World No. 3 and Rio Olympics silver medalist Carolina Marin in the final on Sunday. China’s Tai Tzu Ying and Spain’s Carolina Marin have retained their No. 1 and No. 3 rankings.

Another star shuttler Saina Nehwal has dropped a place to rank 9 after she lost to her compatriot P.V. Sindhu in the quarterfinal of the India Open Supersires.

Ajay Jayaram, the only Indian to reach the second round of Malaysia Open this week, has reached his career best after he climbed to the 20th spot in the BWF rankings. H.S. Prannoy, Sameer Verma and Kidambi Srikanth occupy the 26th, 27th and 28th place respectively.
