Xtra Time Web Desk : Team India on Friday suffered a crushing 7 wicket loss against South Africa in the Cape Town Test to lose the series 2-1 against the hosts. And right after the defeat, many renowned cricket experts around the world started to put forward their opinion on India's missed chance to conquer the final frontier.

And legendary former cricketer and current commentator Sunil Gavaskar has now put his name forward in that list to question Captain Kohli's tactics on the final day, post lunch.

In a post match interview, the former Team India opener said, "It was a mystery to me why Shardul Thakur and Jasprit Bumrah did not bowl after Lunch. It was almost as if India had decided that they are not going to win this. The field placements there were for Ashwin (was not right)… There were singles available easily. Five fielders were in the deep. Let the batters take a chance that is your only opportunity to get them out,”

Also, praising South Africa's fight back in the series, the Mumbaikar added, "The pitches weren't the best for batting but the application shown by the South Africans in Johannesburg, the application shown by them in this Test as well has been praiseworthy. That showed the character of the team.”
