Xtra Time Web Desk: KL Rahul led Indian cricket team reached Zimbabwe on Friday to take part in three match series. The squad landed in Harare during afternoon local time. The players headed straight to the team hotel. They will be having their first training session on Sunday at Harare Sports Club.

National Cricket Academy Director VVS Laxman has accompanied the side to Zimbabwe. The former India cricketer will be the acting head coach for the tour of Zimbabwe as there is only a short turnaround time between the series and the Asia Cup starting on August 27 in the UAE.

The players boarded the flight to Harare in the wee hours on Saturday. KL Rahul is making a comeback in the Indian side after injury. He was also named as the captain of the side, replacing Shikhar Dhawan who was earlier named as the captain. For Rahul the tour will be very important as this will be his last chance to prepare himself for the forthcoming Asia Cup. Earlier this week Rahul replaced Shikhar Dhawan as captain for the series.
