India-Pakistan series in Sri Lanka ?

India-vs-Pakistan

Following  the highly-anticipated meeting between BCCI president Shashank Manohar and PCB boss Shaharyar Khan that took place in Dubai on Sunday,  Sri Lanka or Bangladesh might be chosen as the neutral venue  to host the bi-lateral  series between the two nations . According to a  report in ESPNCricinfo , there could be a possible limited overs series comprising three ODIs and two T20 Internationals in Sri Lanka. According to the ICC’s Future Tours Programe, Pakistan were scheduled to host India in the UAE this December for two Tests, five ODIs and two T20Is. But India are supposed to tour Australia from the first week of Australia, leaving no time for a full-fledged series with their arch-rivals. No details have so far emerged from the meeting but Khan said ECB president Giles Clarke, who was present at the meeting, will brief  the media on Monday.

India have been reluctant to play in the UAE but Pakistan have also questioned the reluctance given a few IPL matches were held there in 2014. After Khan’s meeting with Manohar was interrupted by the Shiv Sena, Pakistan had made it clear they would not tour India. But Sunday’s meeting has raised hopes of a short series prior to the tour Down Under .

Senior PCB official Najam Sethi, who was present at the meeting, tweeted: “”PCB & BCCI officials had a fruitful discussion in ICC office Dubai facilitated by ECB’s Giles Clarke who will field all questions in matter.”
