XtraTime Web Desk: Schedule of Indian cricket has been a major talking point as it’s criticised openly by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli ahead of the ongoing South Africa tour. Now Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could give rest to the top five cricketers in the upcoming Sri Lanka T20 triseries where India Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play.

As per media sources skipper Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, will be rested for the tri-series in Sri Lanka,  The selectors will pick the squad on Sunday and the spectators can see some new talents in this tour “What is the point of sending these cricketers after such a hectic South African tour,” a team source was quoted.

Rohit Sharma likely to lead the team in absence of regular skipper Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane will be the vice- captain. “If Virat wants rest, he will get it. In Virat’s case, it’s he who decides on whether he would like to opt out or not. But you never know he might just want to play the T20 series as this is the last tourney of the season. Once the tournament is over, he will get a fortnight off before the Indian Premier League,” a top BCCI official had told PTI as soon as the subject of rest came into discussion.

Tose five players have palyed most of the matches in the Proteas tour but, Dohi’s name is a little surprisingas he didn’t play in the test series.

The tri series will start from March 6 and all the teams expected to arrive at Lanka by March 4. The tournament will end on 18 th  of the same month.
