Internet Desk: India’s face in world motorsports, Amittrajit Ghosh is now in Kolkata for a short trip, especially for a promotional shooting for an upcoming social networking site on sports. The handsome performer who lives his life on speed, finished on the podium in his very first international rally in England in March. During the exciting shooting, the newest sensation of World Motorsports spoke exclusively to xtratime.in. Here goes the interview:

Q. How’s the feeling to carry the flag of Indian Motorsports?
Ans: Feels very nice. Also gives much needed boost to perform well. But as with most sportspersons in India, I wish India loved us as much as we love India.

Q: How do you have such incredible control in such high speed? It’s unbelievable!
Ans: Practice, practice and more practice. And add loads and loads of training and learning newer better things each day.

Q: You got a podium finish in March in the British rally. A historic feat indeed! How important was it as a performer?
Ans: It was good to finish on the podium in my first international rally and that too with so many new things to factors in but having said that, if we did not encounter the bad luck on day 1, we should have won because at that time, we were leading by almost a minute. But thats rallying! You have your good days and you have your bad days.

Q: According to you what is the future of India in motorsports?
Ans: India should have a bright future in motorsports. I can guarantee that if India actually nurtures and supports the talent that is present in the country, we can have a world champion within 3 years. But, will it?

Q: You have back to back rallies in England and Finland lined up in next couple of months. What’s your personal target?
Ans: I have some International events lined up. Don’t know which ones will work out because as always, I am struggling with sponsors. But if they do, I might visit a range of countries like UK, Poland, Finland, Germany, Belgium etc. to compete in a range of championships like the European as well as the World Rally Championship.

Q: What exactly rushes your adrenalin to enjoy motorsports?
Ans: Motorsports for me is a way of life (smiles). It is all that I have known to do. As such, it is what drives me and being in the car is what makes me feel alive. So no one reason. It’s my way of life!
