Internet Desk : India has climbed three places in the latest FIFA rankings to be placed 163rd , following it’s win in the SAFF Cup .
India emerged as the SAFF champions after defeating Afghanistan 2-1 in the final few days back in Thiruvananthapuram .It was also India’s record breaking seventh title
India thrashed Sri Lanka 2-0, Nepal 4-1 in the group stages before overcoming the Maldives 3-2 in the semi-finals.
All the four SAFF Cup matches were taken into account in the calculation of the rankings. With 139 points to its tally, a gain of seven points from previous month, India occupy 31st spot among Asian countries.
Iran, is placed at top amongst the Asian countries on 43rd spot, followed by Korea (51), Japan (53), Australia (59) and UAE (64).
Overall, Belgium continued to lead the rankings table, followed by Argentina, Spain, Germany, Chile and Brazil in top five.
