Internet Desk: A day after wrestler Narsingh Yadav was given clean chit from National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), India’s Rio-bound shot putter, Inderjeet Singh, failed to clear the dope test for the second time.

As Inderjeet’s ‘B’ sample too tested positive of banned substance, this puts an end to the 28-year-old athlete’s chances of appearing in Rio Olympics.

Earlier, the ‘A’ sample had returned positive for steroids androsterone and etiocholanolone but Inderjeet had claimed tampering of his sample. His test done on June 22 had returned positive. Inderjeet now faces a four-year ban from the World Anti-Doping Agency.

The same has been claimed by the shot-putter. Inderjeet is a Asian Games bronze medallist and multiple time national champion.

Sources said that Inderjeet had requested for the B sample test on Thursday and the result came on Tuseday.

The reigning Asian champions now face the prospect of being banned for four years under the new WADA Code. He is also virtually ruled out of the Rio Olympics which begins on 5 August, though athletics events start on 12 August.

Inderjeet had claimed it was a conspiracy against him and his sample has been tampered with.

“This is a conspiracy and there is something wrong in it. My sample has been tampered with. This will be checked by the doctors though. Why would a player take something which is not good for his health,” Inderjeet had said.

Inderjeet is one of those athletes who does not train at the national camps. He normally trains on his own with his personal coach.
